Ice cream recall issued due to potential plastic contamination

The Brief

    • Thousands of tubs of over a dozen ice cream varieties were recalled due to potential plastic contamination.
    • Wells Enterprises issued the voluntary recall back in April.
    • Wells owns popular ice cream brands such as Blue Bunny and Bomb Pops.

Wells Enterprises, the parent company of popular ice cream brands such as Blue Bunny, Halo Top, Bomb Pops, Blue Ribbon classic ice cream treats and the Cheesecake Factory, has issued a voluntary recall of over a dozen ice cream varieties. 

The recall was issued over potential plastic in the ice cream products, according to the Food and Drug Administration. 

22 ice cream varieties recalled

Three-gallon tubs of 22 different ice cream brands are involved in the recall. The ice cream was distributed from 103 centers across the United States.

  1. Rocky Road Flavored Ice Cream: 169 3-gallon tubs 
  2. Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream: 359 3-gallon tubs
  3. Peanut Butter N’ Fudge Ice Cream: 201 3-gallon tubs
  4. Country Rich Vanilla Ice Cream: 240 3-gallon tubs
  5. Scooper Hero Ice Cream: 726 3-gallon tubs
  6. Cotton Candy Flavored Ice Cream: 39 3-gallon tubs
  7. GFGB Vanilla Bean Flavored Ice Cream: 120 3-gallon tubs
  8. Quick Blend Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream: 280 3-gallon tubs
  9. Planet Smoothie ZSA Vanilla Flavored Fat Free Frozen Yogurt: 937 3-gallon tubs
  10. Johnny Rockets Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream: 100 3-gallon tubs
  11. BIPC Flavored Ice Cream: 1,858 3-gallon tubs
  12. Vanilla Frozen Yogurt: 5,280 3-gallon tubs
  13. Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream: 961 3-gallon tubs
  14. GFGB 12% Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream: 109 3-gallon tubs
  15. Gordon Choice Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream: 1,080 3-gallon tubs
  16. Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with Madagascar vanilla: 320 3-gallon tubs
  17. Glenview Farms Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream: 1,573 3-gallon tubs
  18. Glenview Farms Chocolate Ice Cream: 67 3-gallon tubs
  19. Glenview Farms Artificially Flavored French Vanilla Ice Cream: 2,261 3-gallon tubs
